Step 1
Prepare your vegetables for the chopper. Wash your vegetables or fruit before chopping them. Cut them to a size that will fit the chopper.
-
Step 2
Place the cut vegetables in the cup of the chopper; put the cap on the cup. This may seem backward, but it is often easier than putting the fruit or vegetables on the cap and trying to fit the chopper cup around them. You can use the chopper on a cutting board without the cap, but your food may scatter as you chop.
-
Step 3
Press down quickly and firmly on the chopper handle to force the blades down on the fruit. The handle is spring-loaded, so it will pop right back up. Press down again to chop again. In many choppers, the blades will rotate slightly with each chop, catching a new piece of food.
-
Step 4
Choppers are easy and fun--so much so, in fact, that you must pay attention to your work. They work very efficiently, and you can wind up with teeny, tiny bits of fruit or vegetable if you’re not careful.
-
Step 5
Clean your chopper thoroughly in warm soapy water to reduce the risk of food-borne illness.
