Things You'll Need:
- Small pouch or bag
- Jewelry using stones (optional)
- Any stones you find appealing (see Resources for recommendations)
- A diary of your stones, their history and your reaction to them
-
Step 1
CLEAR QUARTZYou need to build your library of stones, one stone at a time. Find a smallish size that fits comfortably in your hand and pocket, bra, wherever. See how it makes you feel, and what you like and don't like about it. You will know if you want to make it a permanent addition to your collection, or if you want to use it every day or just occasionally.

Step 2
love earth.jpgMove up to trying out combinations. Look at your diary and see what might work well together. Do some research online, or find a good book on minerals. "Love Is In The Earth" (see resources) is absolutely great. Mostly, follow your instincts, then record your reactions for later research.

Step 3
Make or acquire a small pouch that you can wear or carry with you at all times. You can have one basic bag for all the time and another to put specific stones in for specific purposes from time to time, or you can combine them in one bag. You can also use your everyday bag and put small pieces of the temporary stones in your pockets, or wherever.

Step 4
Look up the properties of the metals, because a really fun way to wear your gems can be in the form of jewelry, if you're so inclined. This is also a great way to wear your temporary stones. A psychic might wear a Turquoise or Labradorite ring only when he is reading. A bank manager might carry a piece of Malachite in her bra, or keep a decorative chunk on her office desk as a decorative paperweight.

Step 5
There is a tradition of not buying a medicine pouch, but receiving it as a gift instead. That was easier when it was an accepted part of our culture. These days, make one if you can, buy one if you must, but also do the same for one other person as a gift.
