Step 1
Lie down or sit comfortably. Try to relax and breathe.
-
Step 2
Unwind and take your mind off the pain by keeping busy with something. Watch your favorite show or movie, play video games or listen to some music.
-
Step 3
Apply heat by using a bottle with warm water inside it. This is believed to be safer because it cools down over time, unlike heating pads that stay hot and might burn your skin if you happen to fall asleep having it on.
-
Step 4
Take some over-the-counter pain medications.
-
Step 5
Pamper yourself with a warm bath. Add five drops of rosemary oil to a full tub of water, immerse yourself comfortably and relax. Light some scented candles to enhance a more soothing environment.
-
Step 6
Go herbal. Prepare 1 tsp. of slippery elm and 1 tsp. of chamomile herbs, mix them all together in a cup of hot water and drink it at least 3 times a day.
-
Step 7
Apply light massage by using arnica oil.
-
Step 8
Try some peppermint oil in a capsule; take this two to three times a day in between meals until your cramping eases.
-
Step 9
If you feel like defecating or releasing gas, don’t hold it. This will help to ease the pain.
-
Step 10
When cramping occurs with diarrhea, take some anti-diarrhea agents, like Maalox.
