Step 1
Ask your butcher to make fresh hamburger for you. Select lean cuts of beef from the cooler and hand them over the counter; the butcher will grind and package your beef and you’ll walk away with very healthy hamburger meat. If you shop sales, you’ll find it’s often cheaper than pre-packaged hamburger.

Step 2
Add wheat germ to your burgers. Wheat germ is one of those nutritionally powerful foods that adds nutrients wherever it goes. You won’t taste it and it will give you an extra blast of protein, vitamins and minerals.
-
Step 3
Grill the burgers and drain off all the fat.

Step 4
If you’re eating a hamburger sandwich, get rid of the fluffy white bun. All that white bread is pretty much empty calories. Wrap your burger in a large lettuce leaf, eat it with a fork or eat your burger on a whole grain bun.

Step 5
Add vegetables to the burger. Spinach leaves, tomatoes, sprouts all add vitamins and minerals to your meal.
