1
Remember all the things that were good about the relationship. When you feel your anger building, go there in your mind. It will help you to see that the person is just in pain.
-
2
Have a plan going in. Think ahead of time as to what you want to say and accomplish. Do not just be callous and spit it out haphazardly. This will only result in the situation becoming more confrontational.

3
Remember that the other person may not wish to break up. This often leads to people saying things they really do not mean. As such, do not allow spur of the moment exchanges to anger you. They are just emotions that needed to be let out.
-
4
Be angry in private before you meet with them for the breakup. Sit in a room and get out all the things you wish to say. Allow yourself to be as mean as you wish and to get it all out of your system. Afterwards, reflect on what you said.
-
5
Forgive first. If you go into the breakup with forgiveness in your heart, then they will be more inclined to do the same. Anger and temper has no place in the sad parting of a relationship. It is counterproductive at best.
