Sweet or savory? When you make oven-warmed nuts and honey you can go either way with the possible addition of a few simple ingredients. This guide will get you started.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 10 oz. shelled nuts
  • Oil spray
  • Aluminum foil
  • Optional seasonings or add-ins
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Sort the nutmeats and discard all shells and peels. Put the nutmeats in a large bowl along with any optional add-ins, such as ginger, allspice, cinnamon or dried fruit. If you wish to add seasoning for a more savory snack, take a teaspoon or so of your favorite spice mix and toss this with the nuts as well.

  2. Step 2

Combine sugar, water and honey in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.

  3. Step 3

Pour the mixture over the nuts. Toss gently and spread in a thin layer on a foil-lined, greased cookie sheet.

  4. Step 4

Place the cookie sheet on the middle rack in the oven. Bake for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

  5. Step 5

Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool slightly. Break apart the candied nuts into clusters. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once the nuts cool, it will be hard to break them apart.
