No matter how careful you and your guests might be, it can happen to anybody. Somebody trips or bumps into someone or something and red wine has been spilled on your lovely carpet! If you can get to it quickly, you may be able to remove red wine from your carpet before it stains.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper or cloth towels
  • White wine or club soda
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Vacuum
  1. Step 1

Blot up as much of the wine as you can using paper towels or clean white cloths.

  2. Step 2

Pour white wine or club soda onto the stain, then blot away again.

  3. Step 3

Make a paste of three parts baking soda to one part distilled water. If you do not have distilled water, tap water can be used.

  4. Step 4

Apply the paste to any remaining stain and allow to dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Vacuum the dried baking soda paste away. Your red wine stain should be gone!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have club soda or white wine, pour a large amount of table salt onto the stain to help absorb the red wine.
  • Never use products containing bleach on your carpet.
