How to Be a Classy Social Drinker
After-work happy hour and sharing a drink at a party are important aspects of socializing with friends and business associates. As long as you keep things in moderation and know your boundaries, you can enjoy social drinking in a classy manner. There are, however, a few guidelines you'll need to remember when you're out drinking with your boss, coworkers, or in-law's.

1
Know what sort of crowd you're mingling with. If your coworkers and boss are joining you for happy hour, it's best to watch how much you drink. Yes, your boss may be taking shots. Your uptight project manager may be letting loose with a Long Island Iced Tea. Be the mature, responsible one. Have a drink or two, but always be on your best behavior.

2
Watch how much you drink. If your party keeps re-ordering rounds of drinks, you may be tempted to have more than three or four. If you've reached your limit, politely decline and ask for a water or soft drink.

3
Watch what you say. Some people, when drinking, have the tendency to blurt out secrets or personal information they wouldn't normally disclose. If you wouldn't say it sober, it's best to zip your lips when drinking.

4
Be selective with what you actually drink. Though you may love whiskey and Cuervo, if your boss is footing the bill, opt for a few Bud Light's. You never want to look like the alcoholic employee that splurges on someone else's tab.

5
Drink slowly. Though you may have had a rough work week, it's still a good idea to have happy hour etiquette. You can always knock back a couple of Corona's throughout Sunday's football game. Drink slowly and stylishly.

6
Go outside to smoke. If you like having a cigarette or a few puffs of a cigar whilst drinking, step outside. It's usually a law in most bars, and it shows those around you that you're conscientous of their space.
