Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Remove wax buildup in the outer ear by using a washcloth, soap and water. Rub the washcloth over the grooves in your ear, without pushing it into your ear canal.
Step2
Use a cotton swab to remove wax from the ear canal. Gently place the swab in your inner ear and rotate, pressing lightly against the sides of your inner ear.
Step3
Remove the cotton swab. If you see ear wax residue on the swab, repeat step two until there is no visible wax on the swab after cleaning your inner ear.
Step4
Clean your ears every few days in order to avoid future ear wax buildup.
Step5
Avoid over cleaning your ears, as it can lead to infection. Some wax is necessary in your ear to keep out pollutants and other germs.

on 8/10/2008 An ear surgeon told me to NEVER put a cotton swab into my ear. He said cotton swabs should be used only on the outside of the ear!
