Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Decide if you need to backup your entire computer system or just a few files. This will mainly depend on how much work you have stored on your computer system. If it is your business system and you have tons of client information stored on it, then consider backing up your entire computer system. Doing this will help you to keep this valuable information in a safe place and away from harm. After creating a backup, you can either choose to transfer it to a removable drive or an online one.
Step2
Look for the “Start” option on the bottom right side of your computer. Select the “Control Panel” menu once you have found this section on your computer system. Once you have opened the “Control Panel” search for the “System and Maintenance” tab. This will offer you additional features on your computer for keeping it in regular working order. On this tab, you'll be able to select the “Backup and Restore Center” feature.
Step3
Back up individual files and folders by choosing the “Back up files” option. Choosing this step comes in handy if you do not have a large number of files to save on your computer system. If you do not have many files to back up, then this will also allow you to carry a small portable drive with you to multiple destinations.
Step4
Choose the “Back up computer” option if you need to create a complete backup of your entire computer system. This choice will allow you to completely restore your computer system from a damaged state. When you are ready to restore you computer system, just insert the media that has the saved file and follow the on screen directions to complete the process.
Step5
Create a regular schedule for your computer system backups. Instead of being caught off guard, you will be able to let your computer system take care of the hard work for you. Setting the back up frequency to daily, weekly, or monthly largely depends on the amount of data you have stored and the likelihood of a computer crash. Decide on the best option for you and your computer files. Just remember to periodically test your backup files to make sure they are functioning properly.
