Step 1
Open up Adobe Premiere Pro and begin a new project. Keep the default settings and name the project something like “Title” or “Spinning Text."
-
Step 2
To begin, you will first need to create a new text file. To do this, click on the icon with the little picture of the peeling back paper in the project window. Click the option “Title…”
-
Step 3
The Adobe Title Designer will automatically pop up. Begin typing your text and you can type anything you want like “Spinning Text” for example. Choose a font and any colors if you want except for black.
-
Step 4
Escape the Title designed by pressing the X-icon in the upper right hand corner. A prompt will come up asking you to save your title. Save the title giving it a name you will remember.
-
Step 5
Once the text is saved it will now appear as a source file in your project window. Click and drag the text down to the video 2 layer in the timeline window.
-
Step 6
Click the new item button again in the project window and select “Black Video…” This will add a new video clip in your project bar that is simply a black video.
-
Step 7
Drag the black video icon down into the Video 1 section of your timeline.
-
Step 8
Now you will want to expand your files to around fifteen seconds in length. Right-click on one of the files and click “Speed/Duration.” Change the duration to 15:00 and click "Ok." Do the same for the other clip.
-
Step 9
Highlight the text file in the timeline and then click the effect controls tab in the monitor window.
-
Step 10
Click the arrow under “Motion” and then the arrow under “Rotation.”
-
Step 11
You should now see a circle with a line in it. Drag the arrow line around in the circle to see your title spin back and forth. When you are done previewing the rotating text, reset the values to 0 x 0.
-
Step 12
Click on the mini-clock picture next to the word “Rotation.” This will turn on key frames. Now your clip will start with the title perfectly even.
-
Step 13
Drag the arrow on the timeline all the way to the 15-second mark.
-
Step 14
Click on the second “0.0” and type in the value “360”. Click on the first 0 and type in 50.
-
Step 15
Click on the timeline window and press “Enter” to preview your growing text. For the fifteen seconds your text should be spinning a total of 50 times in 15 seconds.
-
Step 16
Play around with settings to achieve different speeds of the spins and pretty soon you will be able to master the process and create professional looking titles. To slow the speed down, change the 50 value to something like 5 or 10. To make the spins go faster, create a higher number.
