Small hoop earrings can be funky, funny or delicately make a subtle statement. You can pick small hoop earrings that suit your style with a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small hoop earring selection
  • Mirror
  1. Step 1

Asses your earlobes. Some are long and lean while others are stubby. Still others appear to have no earlobes at all. Also keep in mind how many piercings you are going to fill.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the earring color. Some love silver, others can’t live without gold. Or perhaps you want a colorful hue.

  3. Step 3

Pick the earring shape. Those with long, lean earlobes may want to opt for an oblong hoop. Stubby, short lobes benefit from a chunky round hoop. No earlobes at all look cool with wrap-around hoops.

  4. Step 4

Figure out what kind of backing suits you best. If you are clumsy or impatient, steer away from the delicate backings that need extra care to connect.

  5. Step 5

Ask to see several styles at your favorite jewelry store and hold them up to you ears. Ask the sales person's opinion if he seems to care about things.

Tips & Warnings
  • Multiple piercings that lead up the side of your ear look best with a consistent earring in each.
  • Don’t be afraid to check out nipple rings. They also work in earlobes and often come in funkier styles.
