Try not to set the temperature of your coffee maker too hot so that it does not burn your hands when you go to pour the coffee.

Pour your coffee into your cup over a sink or somewhere the liquid can drain if it dribbles.

Do not overfill your cup. Allow enough room to add any cream or sugar that you would like to add.

Lay down a napkin or a cloth in case your coffee drips from your cup.

Handle your coffee cup with care and caution. Do not grab for your cup right after pouring hot fresh coffee. Let it cool for a few minutes. Hold your cup steady, or place it in a cup warmer to get a better grip on your cup.
