Completely uninstalling Windows Media Player 11 isn't as straight forward as uninstalling most software from your PC, but there are only a couple of extra steps that are fairly easy to perform.
Go to the Start menu and choose "Control Panel." From this menu, select "Add or Remove Programs."
At the top of the Add or Remove Programs screen, locate and check the "Show Updates" box. This displays the software updates for the programs currently installed on your computer.
Scroll until you find Window Media Format 11 runtime and Windows Media Player 11. They will probably be located next to one another.
Open Windows Media Player 11 and click "Remove." This is a larger file and may take several minutes to complete. Click "OK" to any confirmation windows. Restart your computer.
Go back the Control Panel and select "Add or Remove Programs," check the "Show Updates" box again and find Windows Media Format 11 runtime.
