For whatever reason, perhaps it’s Halloween or maybe you’re just weird, you want to put wigs on dogs. The dogs are not going to like this, but then again neither do dogs enjoy dressing up as pirates, wearing ski goggles or getting their toenails painted bright pink but people do it anyway. A few simple steps will help you with the wigs.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dog
  • Wig
  • Adjustable headband
  • Bobby pins
  1. Step 1

Get your dog used to the wig. Let him smell it, look at it and give him treats when you introduce it so he equates the wig with something good.

  2. Step 2

Place the adjustable headband to frame your dogs face in front of his ears, adjust and remove.

  3. Step 3

Bobby pin the sized headband inside the wig, using tons of pins so it stays securely in place.

  4. Step 4

Place the wig, complete with its inner headband on the dog’s head.

  5. Step 5

Keep giving him treats, petting him and ensuring him wearing a wig is the best thing ever.

  6. Step 6

Laugh and snap his picture, but don't laugh too loud or he may get mad.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you introduce the wig, make sure the dog doesn’t grab it and run out the door to bury it in the backyard.
  • Red wigs look good on wolf dogs while mean-looking dogs benefit most from curly hair like Shirley Temple.
  • If you really want to secure the wig and know you are never going to use it again, you can cut small holes in the wig for the dog’s ears.
  • Your dog may hate you for some time following this procedure.
