The Daily Plate is a great website for tracking what you eat, as well as sharing your healthiest recipes with others. When using The Daily Plate to track how healthy you are eating, you may eventually run into a scenario where the item you ate is not available on The Daily Plate. Maybe it is a unique recipe, or perhaps it is your own special twist on a recipe that is already listed. Either way, if you want to accurately track the food you are eating, you will want to add your new menu item into the database at The Daily Plate. This is much easier than it sounds.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Fill out the information on the short form to begin adding food to the database on The Daily Plate. You can either add specific restaurant menu items, specific brand ingredients, or just make a generic recipe. After you have completed the form, click the submit button to proceed to the next step.

  4. Step 4
    Nutritional information

On the next screen, enter as much nutritional information as you can for the menu item you are adding. A good place to begin is by adding the totals listed on the nutritional facts portion of the label for the ingredients you used. If you are unsure of something, just leave it blank. You do not need to be intimidated by this step. Fill out as much as you can, and someone else will add to it later on.

  5. Step 5
    Save changes
    Save changes

After you have entered as much nutritional information as you know, click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not be discouraged by the nutritional facts portion. Just enter what you can. Another member will eventually come along and expand on the nutritional aspect.
