Instructions
  1. Step 1

From AOL's homepage click on "Dictionary" on the left.

  2. Step 2

In the box labeled "Enter a Word/Word," type a word and click "Look Up." You will find the function, pronunciation, etymology (word origin), definition and a link to hear the word pronounced.

  3. Step 3

If you are unsure of the spelling, simply spell it to the best of your ability. The AOL Dictionary will give you a list to choose from if you are incorrect in your spelling. Simply click the one you wish to learn more about.

  4. Step 4

If the word you type has several meanings, the AOL Dictionary provides a list from which you can pick. Click the word you want to learn more about.

  5. Step 5

If a word has a synonym, you will have the option to click it to find out more about that word. In that way the dictionary is just like a thesaurus.
