The wedding was perfect. All your plans came together well. Now, on to the reception. That beautiful cheesecake you chose to enhance your special day is on display and just waiting to be cut. But how? Read on to learn how to cut a wedding cheesecake.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cheesecake wedding cake or any large cheesecake
  • Filet knife
  • Bowl of warm water
  • Dish towel

Step1
While cheesecake is now a popular style of wedding cake, there may be some small adjustments that need to be made once you have ordered one. First, make sure it will be delivered. If not, please remember that it should be transported on a flat surface. Setting the cake on the seat of a car is not recommended.
Step2
Double-check with your hall and caterer to make sure that the cake can be put into a cooler upon arrival. Since this is made of cheese, it needs to be refrigerated as long as possible. The cheesecake should only sit out for two hours maximum, and then only in an air conditioned hall. It will tend to get very soft and hard to handle if left out any longer than that.
Step3
When cutting your cheesecake you want to get as uniform slices as possible. Use a filet knife for cutting, making sure to wipe the blade after each cut. Dip the blade in a bowl of warm water prior to making the cuts so that the knife slides smoothly through the cheesecake.
Step4
Diagram for cutting cheesecake wedding cakes Each slice should be about finger-thick--or 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch thick only. You will be cutting the cake in two segments. The outside edge will be about 3 inches wide. Make the first cut at the halfway point. Next make 3 1/2 inch cuts on each side of the half point before starting to angle your cuts. (See diagram).
Step5
The second circle should be cut similar to a pie. Make a small dot in the center of the cake. The first slice should be made at the halfway point. From there, using angle cuts, slice each piece 1/2-inch thick. See diagram above. After the cake is cut and served, be sure to refrigerate any remaining cake immediately.
