Rosacea is a common skin condition that develops in two different stages. First, redness around the cheek area develops. Second, tiny pimples form on the red areas. If rosacea is not treated, chronic inflammation occurs and the skin becomes puffy. Green tea is a natural homeopathic remedy for many things including decreasing the redness caused by rosacea. Learn more about how to treat rosacea with green tea.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Green tea cream
  • Green tea bags
Step1
Consult a dermatologist about your rosacea. If it is chronically inflamed, a more powerful prescription medication may be necessary.
Step2
Avoid skin irritants that may only increase the inflammation and redness. Stay out of the sun and try not to wear a lot of makeup so your skin can breathe and heal.
Step3
Purchase green tea infused face cream. This can be found at a local drug store.
Step4
Apply the green tea face cream at least twice a day. Over a couple of days, you should notice that the redness has decreased. Green tea helps calm and soothe the skin.
Step5
Drink green tea at least once a day. Although it is best to use a topical cream with green tea for the face, it will not hurt to drink some green tea too. It will help hydrate the skin and provide your body with extra antioxidants that it may have use for while your skin goes through the healing process.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be consistent with applying the green tea cream.
  • If you do not see a decrease in redness after a few days, consult a dermatologist.

on 10/1/2008 Great idea to use green tea to decrease redness. I have it and have found it helpful. However, it is NOT a homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic remedies work on the idea that "like cures like". Homeopathic remedies like arnica, nux vomica, etc come in little white pills in very small doses. Some, like arnica, also come as a topical preparation but the bottle would specify that it is a homeopathic remedy for topical purposes.
