If you have an older T.V. with only coaxial inputs here are some options to connect newer devices such as a DVD player.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • RF Modulator
  • RCA Cables (red, yellow, white)
  • Coaxial cable.
  1. Step 1

You will need a device called an RF Modulator the convert the RCA cables from the DVD player to and RF signal that the T.V. can receive. Its not as complicated as it sounds. You can find one of these bad boys at most any electronics store (best buy, radio shack, circuit city) as well as Walmart or Target. They are small any fairly inexpensive and can usually be found with television cables and other adapters.

  2. Step 2

Connect the coaxial cable to the RF modulator where it is labeled something like "out to T.V" or "in from T.V" and the other end to the T.V. itself' s input. Now connect the RCA cables, making sure the colors match, from the modulator to the dvd player. Some modulators also have a power supply so be sure to plug that in as well.

  3. Step 3

There should be a switch on the modulator that regulates the channel on the T.V. that you should use. Put your T.V. on the corresponding channel and enjoy your favorite flick.

  4. Step 4

Another option is to connect a VCR that has RCA inputs to your television using the coaxial cable and then connecting the dvd player to that. You will than have to run the VCR also to use the dvd player. Good luck and enjoy.

on 10/11/2008 It is a shame my Memorex DVD player user guide didn't mention that older TV's may need an RF Modulator and how to make the connections. The information I found here solved my problem! Thanks
