Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Digital camera
- Patience
- Practice
- A good eye and sense of humor
Step1
HAVE FUN! Don't worry about positioning of the subject. Off-centered pictures can often turn out better than centered pictures. Just always have fun with your picture taking, don't take yourself too seriously, and you'll find your pictures turning out better and better.
Step2
GET CLOSE! Close-ups are always fun and usually turn out great! These are especially cute with babies and kids. Never be afraid to use that zoom on your camera, you'll be surprised how well really close pictures turn out.
Step3
TAKE CANDID PICTURES! Take pictures when the subjects are not paying attention. These often turn out to be very charming and eye-catching photos. They are fun and unexpected!
Step4
GO OUTSIDE! Some of the best lighting you can get is natural outside lighting and it's free! Just remember to avoid harsh shadows. Otherwise, have fun with the sun!
Step5
DON'T FEAR THE DUDS! Always remember to take a lot of pictures, the more the better chance you have of getting an awesome shot! Don't fear that a certain angle or shot will not take well. Sometimes when you take a shot you think it will be the worst and it turns out to be the best. Take every shot you get an opportunity for!

on 7/22/2008 If you use a digital camera with a huge memory card that can hold like 300 photos, you can take a lot of each thing to make sure at least one comes out right or you get the best angle.

on 7/15/2008 Nice tips! As a mother of four, I typically end up with photos that are off centered, candid (if that's what you want to call it! HA) , and duds! Posed pictures never seem to work out for us.

on 7/6/2008 Off center photo's usually are the best, i agree. I love my digital can't imagine not having it and having to wait to get them developed. Wow, what a great technology. I still have a hard time getting rid of the duds though (I'm working on it)
