Good female models know how to get amazing shots while posing with a male model.

Just as male models should learn how to pose with the opposite sex, the same goes for female models. This is not a time to be shy or timid.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Female Model
  • Male Model
  • Good poses
  • Chemistry
  1. Step 1

If you're a shy person, throw all your insecurities out the window. The camera will capture any hesitancy or awkwardness between you and the male model. The model will respect your boundaries but you also have to keep in mind that the two of you have to capture moments as if you are the most perfect couple in the world.

  2. Step 2

Get to know your partner in the beginning of the shoot. Joke and play around as if you've known him for a long time. If you can act naturally and be comfortable with him then this will come across in your photos.

  3. Step 3
Eye contact between a male and female model intensifies the image.

Don't be afraid to look him in the eye. Eye contact shows intimacy and when the camera captures that, it's magic.

  4. Step 4
Even the simplest poses can make for a sweet and innocent romantic photo. It's not always about heavily sexual images.

There are ways to pose with a male model where it doesn't have to be so sexual. Often the best poses are the ones that are simple.

  5. Step 5

When all else fails, use the location of the shoot to come up with suitable poses for you and your modeling partner. Play off of random objects and don't forget to keep your model composure. When coming up with poses, play off each other and see what works.

  6. Step 6
Images that tell a story work the best and allows the viewer to come up with their own interpretation.

Your images should tell a story. It doesn't matter what it is and can range from comical to dramatic. Learning to play off one another will help the person looking at your photo figure out what is going on.

  7. Step 7
Being able to use distance also makes for great images.

You don’t always have to be glued to each other in every shot. Find poses that allow you to be separate but still maintain that connection.

  8. Step 8

Posing with a male model can be super fun if you have the right chemistry. When you look into his eyes, picture your boyfriend, favorite male celeb or your secret crush. Whatever works to make you get into the “moment.”

Tips & Warnings
  • When people look at your photo, you want them to see two people madly in love, not two models. And it can be done with enough practice.
  • Don't just try to come up with good poses, come up with poses that will photograph well. There is a difference.
  • To maintain a professional atmosphere, keep all boyfriends and husbands at home and not on the shoot.

on 6/18/2008 Don't forget to mention that there are fake male models out there looking to prey upon female models just like male photographers. If a female model has to meet with a male model before a shoot, she should bring a friend and leave her parents, siblings, cousins, and relatives behind because family members have a tendency to overreact when they see that she is posing with a male model, especially if he doesn't fit their needs.
