Sandy waiting for her Chicken & Rice Chow !

If you love your dog as I do mine, you will love this recipe for homemade dog food ! It has no bone meal or other toxic ingredients!! This recipe will make 5 meals.I just got tired of my dog having bad reactions to the store bought food I was feeding her.I hope this will help others searching for alternative ways to take care of their pets food needs. And what better way to feel good about what your doing for your pets good health!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 chicken breasts cooked
  • 1/4 C. peeled Ginger, cut into 1/4 inch diagonal slices
  • 1 C. steamed Rice
  • 1/2 C. Cornmeal
  • 1 C. Baby Carrots, shredded
  • 1/2 C. Chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin Olive oil
  1. Step 1

Saute the shredded chicken in a large pan for 3 minutes. Mix in the chicken broth & cornmeal. REMOVE the Ginger from the rice, then add the rice to the pan with the carrots. Simmer it all together for 15 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Cool before serving, store leftovers in fridge in zippered bags or air tight container. Can even be frozen.

  3. Step 3

For puppies or old dogs, Puree the chicken for 15 seconds in a food processor.

Tips & Warnings
  • I don't recommend storing the cooked food in the fridge for more than 3 days. You can divide the food up in zipper bags.(just enough for a meal) and freeze them.Use your own judgement as far as storage. You wouldn't give your dog something that you yourself wouldn't eat, right? Or that you wouldn't give to your children? It's the same for your dog. Only fresh food.
  • A good rule of thumb is,food left in the refrigerator for more than 3 days should be discarded.Wether it's for you or your pets!

on 7/26/2009 Fact or Myth: Garlic is in the Onion family and you should not give it to dogs. Otherwise, I would love to try the recipe. Thanks
