The first thing you need to do is figure out what type of person would be looking for a large truck or SUV out there. There are people who perhaps have lots of money, and like to travel. There are people who work in the construction business who haul trailers, tools, workers, etc. to get a job done. There could be a family looking to upgrade to a bigger vehicle to haul around the family boat. There are still people who are looking for, and can afford, a big vehicle with bad gas mileage.

How do you find these people? Advertise. There are many websites on the internet that you can list your vehicle. I have listed some examples below at the end of this article. This can be a great way to sell a vehicle that you are trying to sell. Especially when some dealerships are not taking these large vehicles as trade-ins, because they cannot make enough money to make it worth their while. If they can, you probably lost a lot of money on the trade-in.

You could also advertise in a local magazine or newspaper. Truck Trader magazine is great for this, as they primarily are for people looking to buy or sell larger vehicles like trucks or SUVs.

Be sure to know the value of your car by using www.kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book, great tool for estimating value of your car)
Be prepared to possibly have to sell your vehicle for a bit less than it is worth.
