Cooking everyday does not have to be a chore. Quick healthy recipes are easy to make but slip in some extra veggies, protein etc.. and your dish is super healthy. This way you can reduce the number of entrees you cook

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Any vegetable of choice especially carrots, brocolli and those that have great nutritious value
  • Tofu, nutrella ( soy protein derivative) etc..
Step1
When making any kind of dish with gravy throw in some ground carrots, broccoli, green leafy veggies or veggies of your choice. The amount of veggies should not be too much such that it overpowers the taste of your gravy.
Step2
When making casseroles or noodles or more dry preparations of food, you could sneak in some finely chopped Tofu or even nutrella or sprouts to enhance the value of your food greatly
Step3
When making vegetables I often substitute half of the onions I use with cabbage this introduces different kinds of nutrition
Step4
Be innovative and try different ingredients while cooking small quantities of food and you will discover a whole new set of ingredients that go well together. Something as simple as eggs can go well with many dishes whether boiled or scrambled.

Tips & Warnings

  • My husband just loves my gravy made of carrots, onions garlic and tomatoes. He hates carrots but does not have a clue I sneak them into the gravy! So start discovering today!
  • Try not to tell them about their hated ingredient you managed to sneak in, this can psychologically cause aversion to that dish next time!

on 5/20/2008 The vegetable tip is good, but avoid soy, especially tofo. Traditional miso is OK. For added nutrition in dishes, use homemade beef, chicken or fish stock.
