It's upsetting to see your unfinished work already looking dingy. Here's how to stop that from happening before it starts.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic 2-liter bottle
  • Wet wipes
  • Plastic press and seal wrap
  1. Step 1

Keep your hands and needles clean. Keep wet towelettes with you as you knit--in your bag or beside the place you do your knitting. If your hands feel dirty from using the needles, wipe them down from time to time.

  2. Step 2

Wash your hands before starting. Wipe down needles if they aren't already filled with yarn before you start as well.

  3. Step 3

Put your yarn into the black plastic base of a two liter bottle. Thread the yard through one of the little holes in the bottom. This will prevent it from trailing on the floor or tabletop while you knit.

  4. Step 4

If there isn't a huge amount of yarn, cover the plastic holder with press and seal plastic when you aren't working. If it's too large an amount, use a 1-gallon zipper bag, leaving just enough space open so the yarn isn't caught in the "zipper." It will stay as clean as new--cleaner than in a big tote bag--when you aren't using it.
