Things You'll Need:
- can of compressed air
- gentle detergent (do not use performed or deodorant soap)
- soft, lint free cloth
- alcohol
- cotton swabs
- tooth picks

Step 1
Turn off the computer and disconnect the mouse.

Open the doughnut-shaped computer mouse-ball lid by twisting it in a counter clockwise direction. (some mouse covers slide sideways to open)

Remove the ball and set the ring aside.

Use a soft cloth or paper towel to wash the ball with warm water and detergent. Handle the computer mouse ball as you would a raw egg. Avoid dropping,scractching, or hitting it. Dry the ball with a clean, soft lint free cloth, and set it aside in a safe place to dry thoroughly.

Clean the under side of the lid. Lint deposits often collect on this ring.

Spray a small amount of compressed air into the cavity to loosen dirt or lint. If necessary use a soft brush to dislodge dibris that is stuck to the surface.

Step 7
Look inside the cavity and locate the rollers that come into contact with the computer mouse ball. There are usually three or four rollers that make the mouse work. These rollers control the accuracy of the mouse, so be certain to remove any gummy deposits with a cotton swab and alcohol.

Allow all parts to dry for at least five minutes.

Clean the exterior surface of the mouse. Toothpicks are especially helpful for pushing the corner of a paper towel into the spaces around the buttons on the mouse. Wipe off the bottom of the mouse, being certain to any caked debris from the rubber or plastic dots on each corner of the underside. Return the computer mouse back to the cavity. Then align and twist the lid in a clock wise direction until it locks into place.

Clean the mouse pad with a damp cloth or lint brush.

Reconnect the mouse.
