How to prevent an abscess early.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hot water
  • Cloth
  • Doctor's appointment
  1. Step 1

When you start to feel an abscess coming on, with symptoms of a little swelling in the area and discomfort. Do not try to squeeze it. Squeezing it will only make it worse and will require surgery for drainage.

  2. Step 2

Clean the area with soap and water. Dip the cloth in hot water and apply it directly to the area. When the cloth cools down, repeat the step. Do this several times a day. The area will eventually get bigger and you may experience a little pain as the days go by as the abscess gets bigger.

  3. Step 3

Call your doctor for an appointment. Show him the area and he/she will probably write you a prescription for antibiotics and tell you to repeat step 2. The abscess will eventually rupture and smell fowl. Shower immediately and push all the pus out of the area. Take the antibiotics as directed. This will process will save you the trouble of having the abscess drained, which is a painful process.
