Knowing where to store all your stuff is a problem we all share. Where does it go when you're filled up to the rafters...maybe under them! Read on to find some storage solutions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use your fireplace in the off season as a great little hidden cache. Put one or two lovely baskets in there--and there you have a nice little storage place. Put lids on the baskets to make it look decorative and then fill them with anything you want.

  2. Step 2

Use the space you have under any set of stairs for a good sized storage area. Put up a curtain over it and fill it up with boxes or put a small bureau there and fill up the drawers. If you have a really small desk, it makes a neat little cubbyhole for a child. A stick on light fixture makes it good to go.

  3. Step 3

High ceilings offer up a lot of wasted space--that you can use. Put up a running bookshelf or two way up high for lots of space. Store books, videos, DVD's, CD's and use small square baskets or storage bins. Just label them to keep things straight.

  4. Step 4

Buy under the bed storage bins for off season clothes, scrapbook supplies, camping gear or whatever else you may have that has no place to go. There's a huge amount of space under even a twin bed and several storage bins will fit under a double or larger size.

  5. Step 5

Do you have suitcases or briefcases that you almost never use? Fill them up with items that need a home.

  6. Step 6

Look for places to put rods, pegboards and small boxes and baskets. Over the washer and dryer? Put shelves up high and pegboards underneath for hanging small tools or utensils. Put up a retractable clothesline instead of using all that space for a rod. Get over the door units that hold clothes instead and dry clothes on the line.

  7. Step 7

Put storage in plain sight. Use shoes boxes and cover them with leftover fabric or contact paper to match the room and they'll look nice. For a real custom look, try wallpaper covering to match! Painting boxes is an option too--if they're strong and sturdy.

  8. Step 8

Inside cabinet doors are great for stick on hooks. Under the cabinet shelves are great for cup hooks. Be creative--there's more room than you can see at first glance!
