How to Block Or Unblock Websites From Your PC !

This article will help in blocking or unblocking any websites from your pc. This is useful for parents who want to block any porn sites which their children are surfing, also useful when you want privacy with any websites. Please do read the article for details.

Things You'll Need:

• Some knowledge of operating the hard disks.

1. Many times in schools, colleges & offices surfing some sites like orkut, etc are banned !
   
   To overcome this you can unblock these or block some other websites and play pranks !
   
   Do the following :
   For eg. If you want to block www.orkut.com

2. * Open the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
   * There you will find a file named HOSTS
   * Click on the file and press SHIFT and now right click on it .
   * From the right click menu select Open with .

3. * Now, select Notepad to open the file from the list !
   * Now, in the file under the line 127.0.0.1 localhost add another line as 127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com
   * Now, File --> Save !
   
   Now, open your web browser and try openning www.orkut.com , it will not load !
   
   
   To unblock websites just do the opposite ! its simple just clear that added line and you will be able to surf that website.

on 5/5/2009 i cant get it to work please help me out i got to the note pad thing and added the 127.0.0.2 www.orkut.comand it just wouldnt work i can still get to the sight

on 12/15/2008 everything seems pretty ease to use but step #2...could you explain to me how to get open the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc?...how do i get to it?
