Whether you're making an online payment, setting up some type to automatic payment, or paying a bill over the phone, you will need certain information to set it up.
The two numbers that you will need to do a "check-by-phone" or some other type of checking or savings account electronic payment will be your account number and your routing number.

Well that is the number that is associated with your particular account. It identifies your account form anyone else's.

The routing number is to identify your bank, it will show the debitor what bank and where it is.

How do you find your account or routing number?
That is not always the same. The easiest way to find your account number and routing number is on the bottom of your check.
On the bottom of your check there is 3 sets of numbers. 1.) Account Number 2.) Routing Number 3.) Check Number

You can call your bank for your routing number, or sometimes you can find it on the banks website.
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER LIGHTLY. Only give your account number when needed, it is the more important number out of the two. The account number is more sensitive information then your routing number.
