Turf burn is an injury caused by falling or sliding on synthetic grass.

Turf burns can occur when falling on a field made of synthetic grass in the same way a person gets a rug burn. It is important to treat the injured body part as soon as possible. If the turf burn is not treated within a timely or correct manner it can become infected or leave a scar. There are a few steps a person can take to treat the turf burn and not miss any or much playing time.

  • Soap
  • Antibacterial ointment
  • Gauze
  • Bandage or sports tape

      Wash the injured area.

    • 2

      Apply an antibacterial ointment to the injured area. Before you use the ointment make sure the injured area is dry.

      Wrap the injured area with gauze.

    • 4

      Repeat the above steps daily until the injury is healed.
