Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Triple Antibiotic Ointment
- Gauze Pads
- Athletic Tape
- Antibacterial Soap or similar disinfectant for open wounds
- Hot Water Source
- Optional: large Band-aids
- Courage
Step1
Begin by thoroughly rinsing the wound with warm water. Next, scrub the wound with hot water and antibacterial soap, being sure to get all debris from the wound. Be sure to scrub the wound deeply, leaving no area without attention.
Step2
Dry the surrounding flesh, and gently pat the wound with sterile gauze in order to dry. Cover the wound generously with the triple antibiotic ointment, leaving no area uncovered.
Step3
Cover the wound area with sanitary gauze pads, completely covering the wound and extending slightly over the undamaged flesh. Secure the gauze with athletic tap, making sure to fully cover the gauze pad. Band-aid pads can make a suitable replacement or compliment to the athletic tape in protecting the bandaging.
Step4
Repeat the process as needed until the wound is healed. Keeping the wound dry and away from contact that's no conducive to healing is recommended.
