You can click on View in the top menu bar of Word to see the different document views available to you. An easier method to select views is to use the toolbar at the left end of the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of an open Word document. When one of the buttons on the Document View toolbar are clicked, that button will be highlighted in orange.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Normal View The first button on the Document View toolbar is for Normal View. In Normal View, you will not see columns, graphics, headers, or footers, and the Page Breaks appears as a dotted line across the page. In addition, if you click on a button in the Drawing Toolbar, Word will switch you to Print Layout View so you can see the graphics.
Step2
Web Layout View Web Layout View is the second button. If you create documentation for the Web, this is the view you should use. If you are using Heading Styles, you may also see a pane on the left with the headings created from styles.
Step3
Print Layout View The center button, Print Layout View, is the most commonly used button. With this view, you can see exactly what your document will look like printed out, including being able to see the margins and the headers and the footers.
Step4
Outline View Outline View is next on the toolbar. To benefit from this view, you would need to be using Word’s Outline Levels or Heading Styles.
Step5
Reading Layout View The last button on the View toolbar is Reading Layout. Once you click that button, all toolbars are hidden except for the Reading Layout Toolbar, which has a Close button to return you to the view you were last using. In Reading view, the text is enlarged for easier viewing. You can still edit from this view.
