Things You'll Need:
- Photo albums
- Good Memories
- Journal
-
Step 1
Remember the good times. You can do this by gathering together with friends and simply talking. Share stories about the loved one that you have lost. Only discuss upbeat and happy stories. If anyone tries to bring up a sad memory or remind you of that persons passing then try to gear the conversation back toward fond memories.
-
Step 2
Get out the photo album. Blow the dust off the cover. Flip through the pictures and try to remember those happy times conveyed in front of you. You can do this while you're alone or with friends. Stay focused on the good times and try not to think about losing your loved one. You can think about those things later and cry about them as you need to, but right now, focus on making yourself laugh or simply smile.
-
Step 3
The final step you can do on your own. Get a journal that you can label In Memory Of.... Write down happy thoughts about the person as they come to you. Try to stay away from negative or sad right now. Try to make this journal a place for your fond remembrances. This can also be a place that you can come back to and read when you are feeling exceptionally down or seem to be stuck in the depression that accompanies your loss.

on 7/15/2008 Laughter is healing and good. We are going through that right now. It's hard when all that's left are memories, but you're right. It's important to remember how beautiful and wonderful those memories are. Thank you for sharing. May God bless you as you work through this time.
