iPods can have great amounts of space...but even that gets small when you start building your ever-growing collection! Ever wondered how you can decide which files you want on your iPod, and which ones you don't want to sync? It's a great way to manage your iPod space - so let's learn how to do it!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Open iTunes on your PC. To the left of the main window, you'll see icons for the Library, Store and Playlists. Under the 'Store', you'll see two links: "iTunes Store" and "Purchased". The "Purchased" link will only show you those things you bought in iTunes. However, the Library shows ALL files - including those you imported from another source (such as imported music from CD's).
Step2
In either the Library (any media, whether music, videos, etc.) or Purchased sections, UNCHECK any item that you DO NOT WANT TO SYNC. The media will remain on your PC, and you can check it again at any time to sync it to your iPod the next time you connect.
Step3
All done! The next time you sync your iPod, the ones that are UNCHECKED will NOT sync, and they will be removed from your iPod.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to DELETE a song or other file, simply highlight it and choose 'delete'. You will be prompted by an alert box asking you if you are sure - and it will provide a check box that you will check ONLY IF you should decide you would like to permanently delete it from the drive.
