Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Calculator or pencil and paper
  1. Step 1

Measure the temperature with a Celsius thermometer.

  2. Step 2

Use the following formula to convert Celsius degrees to Fahrenheit degrees:

    Fahrenheit Degrees = (1.8 x Celsius Degrees) + 32.

  3. Step 3

    Examples #1:
    0 Degrees Celsius
    Fahrenheit Degrees = (1.8 x 0) + 32 = 0 + 32 = 32 Degrees

    Example #2:
    40 Degrees Celsius
    Fahrenheit Degrees = (1.8 x 40) + 32 = 72 + 32 = 104 Degrees

    Example #3:
    100 Degrees Celsius
    Fahrenheit Degrees = (1.8 x 100) + 32 = 180 + 32 = 212 Degrees

  4. Step 4

OR You can use the following formula to convert Fahrenheit degrees to Celsius degrees:

    Celsius Degrees = .556 x (Fahrenheit Degrees - 32).

    Examples #4:
    32 Degrees Fahrenheit
    Celsius Degrees = .556 x (32 - 32) = .556 x 0 = 0 Degrees

    Example #5:
    104 Degrees Fahrenheit
    Celsius Degrees = .556 x (104 - 32) = .556 x 72 = 40 Degrees

    Example #6:
    212 Degrees Fahrenheit
    Celsius Degrees = .556 x (212 - 32) = .556 x 180 = 100 Degrees
