Things You'll Need:
- Help from family or friends
- Large table
- Tablecloth
- Fresh flowers
-
Step 1
Plan your menu. Your Mother’s Day brunch should include a smörgåsbord of delicious breakfast and lunch foods. It’s often best to serve a few hot dishes as well as some fresh fruit, a salad and a sweet treat for dessert. If you’re planning to have a lot of guests, consider getting a cooked spiral sliced ham. Some wonderful menu suggestions include quiche, Chicken Salad Casserole and a mandarin orange salad.
-
Step 2
Delegate responsibilities. Depending on the number of people that will be attending your brunch, you may want to delegate responsibilities to some other family members or friends. Assign responsibilities, including shopping, food preparation, decorating, setting the table, etc. And remember, kids love to help, especially when it’s time to surprise mom, so be sure to give them some assignments too!
-
Step 3
Make ahead as much as possible. The key to any get together is to make as much of the food ahead of time as possible. That way, you won’t be stuck in the kitchen while the celebration is going on. Some wonderful make-ahead recipes include Cheesy Hashbrown Potatoes and a make-ahead French Toast.
-
Step 4
Buy what you can’t make. If you’re pressed for time or just aren’t a good cook, go to a high end grocery store and buy a few prepared items. Most grocery stores sell ready-made quiche, fruit and cheese platters, mini muffins, pastries and delicious bakery desserts. You can assemble a wonderful brunch buffet by using prepared items.
-
Step 5
Don’t forget the finishing touches. While the food will be the main attraction at your Mother’s Day brunch, don’t forget to make it extra special by putting out a nice tablecloth, beautiful dishes (maybe the fancy china that’s been holed away in the china closet for 2 decades!) and flowers on the table. These added touches will make it extra special for mom!
