How to Tenderize Meat

The cut of meat you just purchased from the supermarket is tougher than expected. A little attention and a few spices will go a long way in converting the tough to the tender.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mallet
  • Heavy pan
  • Wax paper
  • Marinade
  • Vinegar
  1. Step 1

    Place the meat between two pieces of wax paper.

  2. Step 2

    Break the muscle fibers of the meat with a mallet or the bottom of a heavy pan.

  3. Step 3

    Marinate the meat using a liquid with an acidic base, such as vinegar.

  4. Step 4

    Allow the meat to soak in the marinade for 3 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. Remove meat from the refrigerator and cook.
