Despite the millions of jobs in the city of Chicago, it can be quite difficult getting employed, since there are many other job hunters looking for work. But there are different opportunities for employment by just doing a little research.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look in the local newspaper. Big newspapers like the "Chicago Sun-Times" and "Chicago Tribune" have the job classifieds pages in the back of the newspaper--for retail, sales or business opportunities. It is best to buy the weekend paper, as it has plenty of job ads to browse through. Aside from these newspapers, you can get a copy of the 'Chicago Reader' or the 'Employment Guide' to find work in Chicago or surrounding areas. Best of all, the newspaper is free. You can find them at a newspaper vendor, at a bookstore or in a university.

  2. Step 2

Go on a job hunt. Pick a day to spend looking for a job that you might be interested in. As Chicago is a pretty big city, it is a given that there will be stores that is hiring--some may even have a posting indicating that they need more workers immediately. If not, you can ask an manager or human resources for a job application. Even if they're not hiring at the moment, still fill it out at the store, and they will keep it on file until their next hiring spree.

  3. Step 3

Search for jobs online. Thanks to the today's technology, people have the ability to search for anything they want without doing any research outside their home. One of the best websites to look for jobs is on Craigslist--you can search for jobs in your local area. You can find over 100 jobs that match your experience or expertise in a certain field.

  4. Step 4

Another good alternative is to go to job fairs or a employment agency like FlexiCorps that has list of companies that are always in need of workers. Some of the jobs will be for temporary hire or long-term.
