How to Customize Yahoo Avatar

With Yahoo Avatar, you can create a cartoon-like image that represents you while you're online. Learn how to create a avatar of your very own in no time.

Instructions

1. Go to the "Yahoo Avatars" page and click on the "Appearance" tab (see Resources below). You will see a title that says "Skin Color" and "Face & Eyes." Find the color that matches your skin tone the best--colors range from pale to very dark. Also browse through the different avatars and select the face similar to your facial features (eyes, nose and eyebrows).

2. Next choose the hairstyle of your choice, there are over several pages of hairstyles, ranging from straight to kinky and long to short. Next to each avatar, is a color bar with 4 different hair colors: black, blond, red and brown. Click on any of the hair colors that goes well with your avatar.

3. Now click on the "Apparel" tab and select the dozens of clothes that suits your style. You can try on full outfits and even costumes from the 1800s to special holidays, or look for recent trendy clothes that is in style at the moment. You also can and try out tops and bottoms instead wearing a full outfit.

4. Pick a background by selecting the "Backgrounds" tab that describes your interests--be it traveling, being a glamorous movie star, dressing like a teacher or simply going out for a walk at the park.

5. After you're finish touching up your avatar, click on the orange button that reads "Save Changes." Now you're all set to show your family and friends the virtual you!

Tips & Warnings

• Make your avatar unique by wearing jewelry, hats, glasses and other accessories.

• If you're trying on different clothing and want to go back to what you're wearing before, hit the "Clear" button.

• Change your avatar according to your moods--happy, angry, sad or special.

• If you like how your avatar looks, click on the "Add to Favorites" bar.

• If you delete your avatar, you will lose all the changes that were made.
