A Christmas tree is the centerpiece to most home holiday decorating schemes. Most any tree looks festive, but with a few tips, you can make your Christmas tree the talk of the neighborhood. Here's how to use ornaments to make your tree stand out:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decorate the entire branch. For a fuller look, be sure to use the entire tree, not just the ends of the branches. Place ornaments all over the tree for a more 3-dimensional illusion.

  2. Step 2

Place the smaller ornaments on the top. Put the smallest ornaments on the top boughs on the tree to make the tree look taller.

  3. Step 3

Save the larger ornaments for the lower boughs. They will make the tree look top heavy if placed at the top. Plus, the lower branches are generally sturdier and can better handle the weight of the larger decorations.

  4. Step 4

Scatter like sets of ornaments. If you have sets of similar ornaments, such as round red ornaments or hanging, glass icicles, place them randomly around the tree so that you can enjoy them when viewing the tree from any angle.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the back of the tree. Even if it's set against a wall or in a corner, you can still see the ornaments from the front of the tree.
