The easiest part about preparing a dessert fondue is preparing the fruit and cake for spearing and dipping. You don't need any cooking know-how to do it, but with a little creativity, you can really wow your guests.

From Quick Guide: Fondue
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Selection of ripe fruits, such as apples, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, bananas and peaches
  • Selection of cakes, such as pound cake, cheesecake, brownies and angel food cake
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Individual-sized serving platters
  1. Step 1

Clean the fruit, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Make sure the pieces are large enough to fit on a fondue fork but not so big that they'll fall off the fork or won't easily fit in your mouth. Small strawberries, for example, should be cut in half, while pineapple should be cut into cubes.

  2. Step 2

Place an equal amount of every fruit on each of the individual-sized serving platters. Arrange the fruit pieces into groups, leaving room for the cakes.

  3. Step 3

Cut the cakes into bite-sized pieces. Make sure the pieces are large enough to fit on a fondue fork but not so big that they'll fall off the fork or won't easily fit in your mouth. Save time, money and energy by purchasing pre-made cakes from your local grocery store.

  4. Step 4

Place an equal amount of every cake on each of the individual-sized serving platters. Arrange the cake pieces into groups near the fruits.

  5. Step 5

Place one individual-sized platter at each place setting and arrange the fondue pot in the center of the table.
