Becoming your own movie producer is easy to accomplish these days. If you have a digital camera, some time and a computer, you can do wonders. Turning your personal home movies into professional films can be done with a few clicks of a button. You don't have to be a professional video producer any longer. With a few useful tips, you'll learn how to use your computer to improve your movies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital camera
  • Digital camcorder
  • Computer
  • Editing software
  • Removable media
  1. Step 1

Transfer your personal movie footage from your digital camera or camcorder to your computer. Most devices come already equipped with software applications for transferring. Depending on how many videos you're working with, transferring them shouldn't take long.

  2. Step 2

Drag and drop each imported movie into the timeline tool of your editing application. You then can edit further and rearrange the order of your clips. Your creativity will come into play with this portion of the editing. With a few changes you can quickly change your amateur video into a professional looking movie.

  3. Step 3

Add audio or music to your video footage while it is in the timeline tool. Choose something that will complement your video. You also can increase or decrease the level of sound during this process. Muting the audio from footage can be done so that viewers can hear the music more clearly. If you want to use the music as background and still hear the audio from the video, decrease the added sound.

  4. Step 4

Insert opening and closing credits in your video for a more professional look. If the movie is meant for someone special, add that name in a message or dedication.

  5. Step 5

Use visual transitions when combining audio and movie footage. Your movie will look cool after you add this special touch to your finished product. Play back your film in the mini-video player that comes with your editing program. Check for mistakes and determine if there is anything else you should add.

  6. Step 6

Export your finished movie to a DVD, CD or a file on your computer. Choose the easiest method for others to view the work. You can place your movie on a website, email it to others or just send the finished product on removable media.
