Things You'll Need:
- For each Candy Cane Reindeer:
- 1 candy cane with the wrapper on
- 2 1/4 inch plastic googly eyes
- 1 1/4 red pompom
- 1 dark brown pipe cleaner
- craft glue
- Ribbon
-
Step 1
Hold the wrapped candy cane so that the hook is on top. The curve at the top of the hook is the top of the candy cane reindeer's head. The short end of the hook is the reindeer's face.
-
Step 2
Place a dot of craft glue near the short end of the hook in the middle of the candy for the reindeer's little red nose that glows like Rudolph's did when he had to guide Santa's sleigh that very dark Christmas Eve night in the story. If the candy cane is held, hook up and facing you, the glue dot will be at the bottom of the hook on the front side. Carefully push one 1/4 inch red pompom into the dot of glue and hold it until it sets in place.
-
Step 3
Glue one 1/4 inch googly eye about 1/2 inch below the curve of the candy cane's hook to the right side of the red nose. Glue the other eye about 1/2 inch below the curve of the candy cane's hook to the left side of the red nose. Hold the eyes onto the candy canes until they set in place. Now the candy cane reindeer's face is complete.
-
Step 4
Wrap a brown pipe cleaner around the hook of the candy cane from the bottom side. Twist the pipe cleaner around the hook so that an even amount of pipe cleaner sticks out to both sides perpendicular to the candy cane's hook. Bend each end so that a pair of pipe cleaner antlers form. This will require you to create 90 degree corners like a set of steps going up. The lowest "step" will be closest to the center of the hook and the highest "step" will end with the outermost part of the antler.
-
Step 5
Tie a bow around the candy cane to form a collar for the reindeer and secure it in place with a small dot of glue. Now your candy cane reindeer is ready to give away or hang on the tree.
