Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
On audition day, minimize your caffeine intake. Too much coffee will make you jittery.
Step2
Before you get to the audition give yourself at least five minutes to warm yourself up. Do vocal exercises, go over your lines, and stretch your body. This way you will wake into the audition area feeling ready, which is calming.
Step3
Get to your audition at least 20 min early and find a comfortable place to sit. Don't think about anything but rather take this time to concentrate on your breathing. Make sure it is rhythmic and deep. This will be like a mild meditation and will calm you down.
Step4
If you feel your stomach start to butterfly, take small sips of water.
Step5
Plan yourself something fun to do after the audition. If you start to panic about the audition, think immediately about the fun plan you have. This will remind you that the audition is not the end of the world and that no matter what, when it is over, you will do something that will make you happy.
Step6
Forward bends have a calming effect. If you start to feel the stress either stand up and stretch to touch your toes or stay sitting and just lay your torso on your legs and let your arms and head hang loose.
