The World Food Prize was started by Dr. Norman E. Borlaug who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970. The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution to the world food supply. The contribution might be in areas such as technology, manufacturing, marketing, nutrition or economics.
