The World Food Prize was started by Dr. Norman E. Borlaug who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970. The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution to the world food supply. The contribution might be in areas such as technology, manufacturing, marketing, nutrition or economics. How to Win the World Food Prize

1. Obtain and maintain a career at an academic or research institution, private or public organization, corporate entity, or governmental agency. These are the only entities that can nominate an individual for the World Food Prize.
2. Dedicate yourself to your job. Show the potential person that would be nominating you that you are a hard worker who deserves recognition.
3. Network in your field of study. The more distinguished individuals you know and impress, the more chance you have at being nominated.
4. Perform your own research. How can the world food supply be more efficient? You must make a significant contribution worthy of the prize. Maybe think of a new process or system of manufacturing, marketing or distributing food. The problem you solve should be complex.
5. Research past World Food Prize winners. Analyze their contribution. How was it unique? Why did it impress the nine individuals on the World Food Prize's Selection Committee?
6. Review the criteria for nominations. You must be in good health and able to accept the award in person as well as give a speech.
