Instructions

    • 1

Buy white chocolate in large rectangular chunks at a candy or cake decorating supply store. Sometimes you can find white chocolate in craft stores. During the Christmas season it is also available in most grocery stores. If you have enough notice you can purchase white chocolate on sale and store it in your freezer until you are ready to make the white chocolate molded favors.

    • 2

Place clean and dry clay cookie molds into the freezer for at least an hour.

    • 3

Divide the white chocolate into smaller pieces, about an inch square is good. You can grate the chocolate or cut it. Place about 2 cups of the white chocolate into the top of a double boiler. The water in the bottom of the double boiler should be boiling. This allows the chocolate to melt without burning or sticking to the bottom of the pot. Use a heat-safe spatula to stir the chocolate until it is evenly melted.

    • 4

Allow the melted chocolate to cool until it is just a bit warmer than lukewarm. Then pour the melted chocolate into each of the frozen clay cookie molds. Set the filled molds on top of a cooling rack.

    • 5

Wait until the chocolate in the cold molds looks all the way solid. It will pull away from the edge of the mold just slightly. Turn the chocolate out of the mold. It should release immediately. If not, gently insert the tip of a very thin paring knife between the mold and the chocolate to loosen it. If it still does not release, place the filled mold back into the freezer for about 10 minutes. The design cut into the clay cookie mold will now be pressed into the chocolate.

    • 6

Wrap the molded white chocolate favor in clear or translucent colored cellophane. Tie the cellophane with a colorful ribbon and curl the ends after making a bow. Place the white chocolate favors in a decorative basket or on the table next to your guests' plates for a sit-down reception or shower meal.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can melt the white chocolate in a microwave but it is a delicate proposition. Use 30-second increments and stir between each. If the chocolate begins to solidify or get gritty, it is burned.

  • Tie a card with your new name, address, email address and telephone number to the ribbon.
