How to Use Green Screen Technology

Multiple set locations and a low budget? At the moment that feature film with distant locations seems impossible. Yet, it is quite possible with a little green. Green screen technology allows for various backgrounds to be inserted behind the subject eliminating the need for on-location shooting. Follow these steps to use a green screen in filming your masterpiece.

Things You'll Need:

  • Green wall
  • Green cloth
  • Lights
  • Liquid nails
  • Editing software
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    Create a green screen background by painting a wall green or covering it with cloth.

  2. Step 2

    If you are using fabric, mount it to the wall using glue strips or liquid nails.

  3. Step 3

    Light the green screen separately from the subject to eliminate hot spots.

  4. Step 4

    Make sure the subject does not wear anything with the color green.

  5. Step 5

    Place the talent far enough away from the green background to create separation between the two.

  6. Step 6

    Light the subject to eliminate shadows.

  7. Step 7

    Shoot your footage and then load into your editing system for the background change.
