Applying eye makeup for an evening out can be tricky but a few simple tips can make the process a lot easier.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dark eye shadow
  • White eye shadow
  • Eye makeup base
  • Mascara
  • Eyeliner
  1. Step 1

Before applying any makeup, you need to prep the eyelids. Apply a light-colored eye makeup base so your makeup doesn't crease or crack. Eye makeup base can be found at most makeup counters.

  2. Step 2

Lightly dust the white shadow in the inside corner of the eye and just under the outside portion of the eyebrow. This will make your eyes appear brighter, which is helpful when using dark and heavy shadows elsewhere.

  3. Step 3

Use the dark shadow in the crease of the eyelid and work toward the outer edge of the eye closest to the side of the face. To give your eyes a smokey look, keep the shadow darker on the inner corner and crease and dusty and smokier on the outer edges.

  4. Step 4

Take the eyeliner, either pencil or liquid, and line the top and bottom of your eyes, staying as close to the lash line as possible. It is easiest to line the inner rim of your lower lash line with a pencil and the top with liquid.

  5. Step 5

FInally apply a thick coat of mascara to your upper lashes only. This will make your eyes appear wider but not spidery.
