People are always looking for different ways to be charitable. Many others are interested in increasing their vocabulary skills. Why not do both? Here is a fun and easy way to donate rice while increasing your vocabulary skills.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Log onto the Free Rice website.
Step2
As soon as you log onto the page, you will find a vocabulary word. Below that word will be four others. You can even click on a link in order to know how the first word is pronounced.
Step3
Click on whichever of the four words you believe to be closest in meaning to the first word. For example, if the first word is “aqua” and your four options are “water,” “heroic story,” “turban” and “occupant,” you would choose “water.”
Step4
When you choose a correct answer, advertisers found on the website pay for a donation of twenty grains of rice. If you get the word wrong, no grains are donated. Either way, another vocabulary word immediately appears on your screen.
Step5
Continue doing this for as long as you like. As you answer more of these correctly, the vocabulary will increase in difficulty. This is to ensure that you are learning something while donating to a very worthwhile cause.

Tips & Warnings

  • The rice is handed out by the United Nations World Food Program. You can find out how by clicking on the “FAQ” tab found on the top banner of the website.
